“These are the stories I was told not to tell.”

A journey of fire, flight, and fierce becoming.

ABOUT THE BOOK

For the ones who inherited silence as a survival skill, and are ready to choose something different.

This isn’t a book about your mother.
It’s about what you find once you stop letting the wound be the whole story.

On the Other Side of Mother Wounds isn’t a memoir in the traditional sense. It’s a remembering. A reckoning. A becoming.

Fragments and fire. Grit and grace. Stories written with blood, breath, and bones, and no tidy resolutions.

This book is for the ones who grew up being the strong one. The useful one. The one who held it all together while falling apart inside. For the ones who gave too much, loved too hard, shapeshifted into acceptability, or inherited silence as a survival skill.

This book is not about your mother’s failures. It’s about the moment you stop mistaking her limitations for your own. About seeing the hurdle, clearing it, and then turning around to take in the view.

You don’t need to be perfect. You don’t need to be holy. You just need to be whole.

“But then — somewhere between descent and despair —
you realize: it’s not death.
It’s flight.”

What readers are saying

“As a daughter and a mother myself, I could deeply relate to aspects of Sandy’s stories. They are so vivid and invoke precious memories from childhood. It’s an incredible journey, beautifully written.”

VISHALI  ·  UNITED STATES

“It felt both intimate and widely relatable. Thank you for bringing sensitivity and grace to a subject many struggle to even name.”

VERIFIED READER  ·  UNITED STATES

“I couldn’t put the book down, literally, until I finished it. Coming out the other side of that. Whole.”

JUDITH MCDONALD  ·  AUSTRALIA

“I could not stop reading it, turning pages as if I could identify to the author's feelings and questioning. A very truthful book, it is so rare to read that much honesty.”

CECILE BOURDET · FRANCE

You don’t have to share her story to recognize yourself in it.

Sandy’s book travels across four countries and three decades. What it finds everywhere it goes is the same: women who learned to carry more than they should have, and quietly wondered if that was just love.

If you have ever loved someone whose limitations shaped you, this book was written for you.

“I am all of her. And I am more.
I walk forward now, not seeking permission.
But claiming space. Completely.
Unapologetically. Free.”
